10-year workmanship guarantee
Every significant piece of work we carry out is backed by a written 10-year workmanship guarantee. This applies to: full re-roofs, flat roof replacement, full chimney repointing, full guttering and fascia systems, full leadwork replacement, dry ridge retrofits, and all commercial installations.
Small repairs (slipped tiles, minor flashing patches, gutter clearing, point-and-tidy work) carry a 12-month workmanship guarantee as standard. Significant individual repairs — full chimney flashing replacement, valley rebuilds, major ridge re-bedding — carry the same 10-year guarantee as the larger works.
What the workmanship guarantee covers
If any part of our workmanship fails within the guarantee period — meaning a fault in how we fitted or installed the roof — we come back and fix it at no charge. That includes labour, materials, scaffold access, and any associated making-good. No arguments, no "out of scope" get-out clauses, no call-out fees.
What it doesn't cover
Honest with you: no guarantee covers everything. Our workmanship guarantee doesn't cover:
- Damage caused by exceptional storms (above 70mph gusts) — that's what your buildings insurance is for
- Accidental damage — a ball through a skylight, a branch falling on the roof, someone else's contractor walking across your slates
- Damage caused by subsequent alterations made by other contractors (e.g. someone installing a satellite dish through the membrane)
- Normal wear at the end of the material's natural life (e.g. UPVC guttering becoming brittle after 20+ years)
- Buildings issues unrelated to the roof (subsidence, structural movement, damp rising from below)
These exclusions aren't hidden in small print — they're the same standard exclusions any reputable roofer would apply. The important thing is that anything caused by our installation, we cover.
Manufacturer warranties on materials
Separately from our workmanship guarantee, the materials we fit come with manufacturer warranties. These are between you and the manufacturer — we pass the paperwork over at completion. Typical cover:
Pitched roofing materials
- Natural Welsh slate: 100 years
- Spanish slate (T1): 75 years
- Clay tiles: 30–50 years
- Concrete tiles (Marley, Redland): 30 years
- Synthetic slate (Cembrit): 30 years
- Breathable membrane: 15 years
- Dry ridge systems: 10 years
Flat roofing systems
- Firestone EPDM: 20 years
- Classicbond EPDM: 20 years
- GRP fibreglass: 20–25 years
- SBS torch-on felt: 15–20 years
- Sika Sarnafil (commercial): 15–25 years depending on spec
- IKO Armourplan: 20 years
- Kemperol liquid: 20 years
Insurance-backed guarantees
On some larger manufacturer systems (Sika Sarnafil, certain Firestone EPDM specs, IKO Armourplan), you can purchase an insurance-backed guarantee that continues to honour the warranty even if the original installer (us) or the manufacturer ceases trading. These typically cost a small additional percentage at install and are worth considering on large commercial or high-value residential jobs. We can arrange them through the relevant manufacturer at quote stage.
Our insurance cover
Proper insurance matters. Without it, if anything goes wrong (a scaffold collapses, a tile falls on a car, someone is injured), you as the property owner can be liable. Our cover:
| Public Liability | £1,000,000 (upgradable to £5m on request) |
| Employers' Liability | £5,000,000 |
| Professional Indemnity | £250,000 (design work and condition surveys) |
| Tools & plant | £50,000 |
All policies are with major UK commercial insurers. Certificates available on request before any job starts — just ask.
Our standards accreditations
We work to British Standards (BS 5534 pitched roofing, BS 8217 built-up felt, BS 8747 single-ply), are members of the NFRC (National Federation of Roofing Contractors), hold CHAS and SSIP health-and-safety accreditations, and our senior team hold IPAF and SSSTS/SMSTS certifications where relevant.
What to do if you ever need to claim
Ring us on 0330 223 7665. If we fitted the work, we will come out, inspect it, and put it right if it's our workmanship. If it's a manufacturer-warranty issue, we will help you liaise with the manufacturer. If it's insurance-related (storm damage, accidental damage), we will help you with the claim. In twenty years we have never refused a legitimate workmanship-guarantee claim.
