About Beeston
Beeston, historically a parish in Nottinghamshire and now a substantial town contiguous with Nottingham's western suburbs, is recorded in the Domesday Book as Bestune. The parish church of St John the Baptist on Middle Street dates from the fourteenth century, though significantly rebuilt in the nineteenth. The town was transformed in the nineteenth century first by the lace industry (Beeston, along with Long Eaton and Sandiacre, was one of the East Midlands lace centres) and subsequently by the establishment of the Boots the Chemist works at Beeston in the early twentieth century, which brought substantial industrial and residential growth.
Beeston's housing stock is therefore extraordinarily diverse. The oldest buildings — the Manor House, some of the historic cottages off Middle Street and Broadgate — genuinely predate 1800. The Victorian expansion added miles of red-brick terraced housing, particularly in the area bounded by City Road, Station Road and Lower Regent Street, which today houses much of Beeston's substantial student population (the University of Nottingham's main campus is barely a mile away across Beeston Fields). Interwar semis line the roads out towards Wollaton and Chilwell, and the post-war and later private estates extend in every direction.
The student-let sector in Beeston is, for roofers, a distinct specialism. We do a very substantial amount of rental-property work: landlords need quick, reliable, compliant repairs done while tenants are in occupation; re-roofs need to be scheduled between tenancies; and everything has to be documented to the standards required by HMO licensing and Rent Smart assurance. We carry all the right paperwork, DBS-checked teams where required, and can issue full trade certification for landlords' compliance records.
